Modem
Report
The eManager generates modem report at file /run/modem_report.json
. It contains info about the modem, the network, the SIM and the timestamp. This report file is updated every 5 seconds.
The report file is only generated if the ppp service has been started.
To show the report file:
The structure is the following:
{
"modem": {
"imei": "865826048063558",
"manufacturer": "Quectel_Ltd",
"model": "Quectel_M95",
"revision": "Revision: M95FAR02A08"
},
"network": {
"RSSI_dBm": -83,
"name": "Vodafone",
"strength": 15
},
"sim": {
"imsi": "214012005652509"
},
"timestamp": "2021-12-27T10:10:35.138Z"
}
Regarding the network characteristics, using the values of the RSSI_dBm and the strength fields, we can know how good our connectivity is.
Here, you can find a table including the quality of the connectivity depending on the RSSI_dBm and the strength values.
Signal quality
You can check the status of the modem connection in two ways:
Option 1
New in image release 21.08.
Check the Modem LED's colors:
- Flashing Blue: Modem not used.
- Flashing Red: Without connectivity / looking for connectivity.
- Flashing Green: Connected with low signal.
- Green: Good signal.
Option 2
Check the RSSI_dBm and strength parameters at /run/modem_report.json
.
The following table relates the Signal Quality with the RSSI_dBm / strength values:
